Chairman

Joe Birch has 46 years of service with the Memphis NBC affiliate WMC in 2024. An Emmy Award winning journalist, Birch has devoted his life off the air to his family and community service. A past President of the Memphis Rotary Club, the newsman organizes a monthly mobile food pantry that provides a week worth of groceries to 500 families in need. Christian Brothers University awarded the 1978 CBU graduate an Honorary Doctorate for Public Service in 2022.

Mac Edwards has nearly five decades of experience in the hospitality industry. He is the founder of McEwen’s on Monroe and The Farmer Restaurant. In 2004, he was recognized as the "Restaurateur of the Year" by the Memphis Restaurant Association. Additionally, he has played a key role in the community as a founding board member of the Memphis Farmers Market and Mid-South Sober Living.  He has shared his expertise and passion for food and fellowship to support the recovery community for over two decades.

Steve has over 30 years of experience in the industrial marketplace working with three industrial distributors, and an automotive conveyor OEM in a variety of roles including sales, operations and systems management, project management, and corporate leadership.
Currently, he makes a living as a territory manager for a manufacturer of high force hydraulic tools.

Bob Beck is a proud lifelong Memphian, the owner of Fair Witness Intervention and has dedicated the past decade to providing support and guidance to individuals struggling with addiction. With 19 years of personal recovery experience, he has become a strong advocate for those seeking to reclaim their lives from the grips of substance abuse.

Rod joined the Memphis Alano Club Board of Directors in 2023, bringing experience and knowledge that he has gained over 14 years in the financial services business.

Charlotte Hoppers

Charlotte Hoppers

Board Member

Charlotte Hoppers is a graduate of the University of Memphis. She is a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor II a Qualified Clinical Supervisor in the state of Tennessee and was a Nationally Certified Addiction Counselor II through the National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors. Ms. Hoppers is a graduate of the University of Memphis and has earned Certificates in Executive Leadership and Fund Development.

Kristy McCormic-Lane

Kristy has over 30 years of experience in accounting, finance, and behavioral health. A native Memphian, she is community-minded with a passion for serving others. Through her work at Lakeside Behavioral Health Hospital and Oaks at LaPaloma, she gained valuable insights and experience in these fields. As the Executive Director of the Kathryn Foundation and a board member of Grace House and Last House on the Block, she has demonstrated her commitment to making a positive impact in the community. She is a servant leader who believes in using her lived experience to support and empower those in need. 

Mindy Okeon Wagerman

Mindy Okeon Wagerman

Board Member

Mindy is a proud native Memphian. She received her bachelor’s degree from Emory University and her J.D. from University of Memphis School of Law. She practiced law at Glankler Brown in the 1990's and then served as Director of Development at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital and the Jewish Foundation of Memphis.

Amy Speropoulos

Amy Speropoulos has been in television for 30 years. An award-winning journalist, she graduated from the University of Alabama. Her career led her through Alabama and Missouri until she landed in Memphis in 1999.
